- Our Interactive Gallery - where the sights of sounds of the ancient forest come to life before your very eyes. This hands on gallery of computer-generated images of birds and wildlife will amaze and delight you - spend your first 10 minutes in here
- Join the Kaka Circus! Watch these noisy clowns of the forest feed and play
- Take a Tuatara Close Encounter and meet a living dinosaur
- Catch the beloved Kiwi in his special house (he thinks it's night, you know it is day!)
- Talk to the Eels – learn to love these misunderstood creatures
- Wander along our new Walking Track – Te Arapiki o Tawhaki. Weave through the forest and listen to the birds as they call to each other. Stretch out and take the track up the hill to enjoy breathtaking scenery toward the Tararuas. Picnic spots at the top for you to enjoy.
- Explore the sight and sounds of our primeval forest – how many bird species can you spot?
- Take in a Takahe Talk - our Rangers will tell you all there is to know about this endangered bird that was once extinct.
- Roving Rangers Ramble – daily at 11.30. Check the blackboard on arrival as talk changes daily
- Our skilled and knowledgeable Rangers are out and about telling our visitors all about the forest, the restoration, the kokako, the whio and all the various plants the forest supports
