There is lots to see and do at Pukaha this summer. Bring the whole family for a great day out, pack a picnic and stroll to the top of the Loop Walk or enjoy some delicious home made goodies from our very popular Cafe Takahe. Family passes (2 adults and up to four children) are still only $38.00.
Our summer programme includes the following activities - all are included in the entry price:
10 am Takahe Talk. Enjoy hearing about the successful re-introduction of these highly entertaining birds to Pukaha.
10.30 am Tuatara Talk. Our old man of the forest will be able to be viewed. Learn of his prehistoric history - he was around with the dinosaurs!
11.30 am Close encounter with a junior tuatara. Only three years old and quite rare. Our rangers will take you through all the changes these fascinating animals go through in their long lives.
1.30 pm Eel Feed and Talk. You simply won't believe how long eels live and where they go to breed! Come and find out.
2.00 pm Kiwi Chick weigh and check. A rare glimpse at our new chicks from the forest as the Rangers go through their continuous routine checks.
3.00 pm Kaka Feed. Watch out! You will find yourself ducking and laughing in delight at these tumbling clowns of forest as they swoop around during their entertaining feed.
Have a safe and happy holiday and drive safely to see us all at Pukaha this summer.
Please note, our Kiwi house remains closed for restoration until end of January.
